Dunnottar Castle
440 MM rock formation in which the castle was built.
Evidence of Picts living on the sea stack of Dunnicaer, just north of where the Castle is situated today, has been found by archaeologists from the University of Aberdeen. The name ‘dun’ is Pictish for ‘fort’. It is believed that the Picts established it between 5000BC and 700AD.

St Mary's Abbey in Melrose, Roxburghshire, was founded in 1136 by Cistercian monks under King David of Scotland. Once the main hub of the Cistercian order in the area, the monastery retained its prominence until the Reformation period. Presently, its partially destroyed edifice serves as a poignant reminder of bygone tales, providing a window into the profound legacy of the Scottish border.
